Makai Watch

Makai Watch is a volunteer program run by the State of Hawaiʻi Department of Land and Natural Resources and works to get community members involved in preserving and protecting our marine resources and promoting ocean stewardship. Keaʻau Makai Watch currently has about 15 volunteers. Over the past year, our group has participated in two coastal cleanups, had a float in the Keaʻau Lighted Christmas Parade, and worked with local schools to develop educational programs.
